A Tribute to Our Mom

This last Monday, on St. Patrick's Day our mom celebrated her 80th Birthday. This is quite a mile stone in a persons life. I had a small Birthday Party for her at the apartment complex where she lives. Flowers were delivered, and a cake with her picture awaited her. And as a tribute to our mother my sister wrote the following poem.

Dear Mom

As daughters we send this gift to you to celebrate your life today, to let you know our love for your is expressed each time we pray. We thank you for the lessons you've taught us through the years, for your undying love to each of us come happiness or tears. As Karen faced the world alone and with suffering and pain, you helped her to see from losses we can learn to value gain. Kim knows of the sweet through bitter; that help comes from above. God has sent it to her daily through your unfailing love. To Karlene the gift of healing a treasure she will keep, from your sacred mother's love, a love that's warm and deep. We love you, Mom, so dearly and to you this day we say, may God's blessings come upon you in every possible way.

Thank you for sharing that. I have to say that she is one of my heroes. In some of those pictures, I could see traits that had been passed down to my mom. It reminded me how beautiful and real all of you are. I am so grateful to have such amazing role models in my life of what a woman should be. Thanks to all of you for your wonderful examples!
